Alexandria, a high income suburb of Washington DC, is home to about 128,000 people and is located along the Western bank of the Potomac. It is also quite close to Arlington and houses many city professionals and other Government workers.The average home sold for an approximate $556,000 in 2005.
Alexandria's historic center is called "Old Town" and was established in 1695. Old Town is extremely rich in culture and makes for an excellent cobble-stoned promenade amidst coffee shops, jazz clubs, pubs, bookstores, stunning architecture, antique shops, dining, art shops/galleries, craft stores and a wonderful farmers market on the weekends.
